I received this message from the Narcolepsy Network this week:
Dear Kathleen,
We invite you to join us you us in raising awareness for Narcolepsy. Narcolepsy
Awareness Day, also known as Suddenly Sleepy Saturday, is March 9. It is part of
National Sleep Awareness Week (NSAW), March 3-10. NSAW is an annual public education
campaign that brings awareness to the importance of sleep for optimal health and
safety.
One of the best ways to increase narcolepsy awareness is to have your city, county
or state officially recognize March 9 as Narcolepsy Awareness Day with an official
proclamation.
A sample proclamation is available in the Resources box to the right, along with
some examples, helpful tips and contact information for every state governor's
office. Some states also have online resources that let you submit requests electronically,
so if you're tech savvy, look for these resources via Google. Receiving a proclamation
usually takes 3-6 weeks, so don't delay in starting the process. March 9 is just
around the corner!
This year we will be thanking people who let us know about their efforts towards
a proclamation with a prize drawing, so please keep us up to date on your journey.
Also let us know what support you need, and if you have any questions or want to
talk about an idea you have please feel free to email me [mailto:■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■].
Sincerely,
Sarah DiDavide
